Jakarta Albatross Weekday Golf Society (JAWS) in Klub Golf Bogor Raya 24th July 2020

Another visit to the stunning Graham March designed course was rewarded with some perfect weather and playing conditions.  

With beautiful layouts and beautiful gardens, Bogor Raya GC proved once again to be an enchanting playground for the 37 golfers (our highest turnout till date).

The first group started on hole 5 as Bogor Raya was kind enough to give us a 5 holes semi shotgun start and Taufik and Arief started very straight and very strong.

Ola had to remember how to swing for the first few holes. Fernando who seemed was lagging behind up until the back 9  where he shot 3 consecutive birdies for a sweet 35 on the back.

Finished at 100 for the day and Taufik and Arief had a good day out and ended up with 84/83. Fernando because of his poor front 9 and only managed a gross 78 with 25 puts and came in 3rd on best Nett.

Team 2 was the powering team, started strong with a blazing straight opening drive by Giles the 6’4″ Englishman who meant business with his Taylormade R1 driver and we call him Dechampoo (as shampoo :P) for a reason, and not to be outdone by a impressive putting skill by Widiyanto, a local silent killer who won the least putt of the day prize, scoring 23 putts in total over 18 holes.

Will had a great game spurred on by long drives and ended up hitting a Nett 66 to come in 2nd Best Nett . Giles high of the day was on the 8th par 5, hitting driver, then rescue to 7 ft and sinking the putt for eagle and then a birdie on the 9th post which he went downhill with a few double and triple bogeys.

Krist had some amazing approach shots into the greens, but was let down by his putter. We had some great fun and lots of laughs along the way.

The course was in perfect condition and for some odd reason the NTP flag was missing ( admins at fault ) on the 3rd hole  as Widdy put it to about 12ft from the pin.

Group three had Bobby struggling today on almost every green he did have many good opportunities to make pars but eventually accepted bogies.

Vinay managed to play well and end up with one of his best round with a lot of gimmes (going forward we all have to putt it in guys) and Jim had his share of up and downs but still managed to walk away with a decent score.

Satya on the other had showed excellent skill with lots of confident precision shots and a few bunkers walking away with pars and came in 3rd best nett.

Great fun round

Nothing would be complete without this group of Fitrat, Kukuh, Audie and Gaurav who started steadily.

Kukuh definitely has to pray hard to appease the golfing gods as his putts skimmed the hole time and time again without falling in.

Fitrat, on one of the holes, held his phone to his ear and duffed his chip, but didn’t care much, as he had just got the news of bagging a Big Fat contract- kudos.

Unfortunately the contract didn’t account to buy his flight some drinks later to celebrate ha ha !

Gaurav found every tree and bunker possible on the course but hung on to play a decent round in the end.

Audie was steady mostly, with some great drives and delicate approaches (though Cinderella was late for the Ball, missing the first hole and joining the flight on the second hole and then ending up going to finish the last hole and hitting a net 67 for a joint 3rd place best nett). 

Ronald , Indar , Ricky and  Rizky had a great fun day out getting to know each other.

Each showing who is boss hitting long straight hard drives and then Indar and Rizky following through for pin position.

Ronald and Ricky not to be left behind played a moderate chipping and putting game.

All in all a great fun round for this band of bandits.

Sunny skies greeted Imran ,Divya and Murthi who were waiting for Sam the magician ( appeared on hole 3 ).

With the pain on his joint arm, Imrans tee off was way right to the other hole whilst the others drove on the fairway.

Imran sorted his tennis elbow with a borrowed brace and played the front 9 well but melted towards the back.

Murthi was duffing his tee shots at times but sharp on his his short game and putter.

Divya on the other hand played steady and consistent golf and then appeared Sam with powerful shots all muscle some great drivers and a few duffs.

This got to Sam and he suddenly gave up and raised a white flag at hole 14.

Great fun but finishing the on the signature hole 18 without anyone making a par definitely triggers a MUST COMEBACK feeling.

Simon and Karan played along with Rosie and Diana.

A nice steady relaxed day out filled with Karan and Simon hitting booming drives and the girls not to be left behind with Diana winning closest to the Pin well done. 

Raging Randy was on form playing with Joko , Parman(U- read as the nuclear bomb) and Dede.

Overall a great fun round with Randy and Dedec weaving their magic with irons and their short game mesmerizing the rest.

Randy hitting a net 67 for a joint 3rd place best nett and Dede winning Longest Drive.

The last flight had Bayu, Fuad, Yudi and Febian.

Bayu a 5 handicapper showed his class playing a gross 70 (-1 to the course score) and a net 65 , yikes that’s PGA level stuff.

His long drives and precision irons and putter are a treat to watch and won Best Nett overall. Fuad and Yudi played well but struggled a bit on the first 9 and recovered on the back with birdies and some pars.

Febian played fun even golf throughout and had a bit of a struggle with his short game but some good putts saved the day.

The overall winner was Bayu Gross 70 (WOOOOHH) , Net 65.

Taking second position was William with a Net 66 and in shared third place with a nett 67 were Fernando , Satya, Randy and Audie

4 Vouchers for Emeralda Golf Course were won by Rosie , Gaurav, Bobby and Randy and one Voucher for Sentul Highlands was won by Febian

On the skill prizes , Longest Drive was won by Dede and Nearest to the Pin by Diana and lowest putts with smooth as silk putting was won by Widi
